Although more typically associated with horror material, writer-director Banjong Pisanthanakun attempts to extend a highly successful run of recent releases that includes horror-comedy Pee Mak, Thailand’s domestic box-office record-holder, by switching things up with romantic comedy One Day. Hobbled by a disappointing dependence on transparent plot contrivances and conventional romantic sentiments, the film proves rather less inventive than Pisanthanakun’s more distinctive work. After a decent domestic opening in September, the film looks most likely to gain overseas exposure on the international festival circuit. Exploiting the now nearly universal stereotype of the misunderstood computer geek, Pisanthanakun centers the action on Den Chantavit Dhanasevi, who works mostly unrecognized and underappreciated in the IT department of a mid-sized Bangkok food-products company. Although he relates better to computers than he does to most people, one of the few exceptions is Nui Nittha Jirayungyurn, a cute girl in the marketing department. Her frequent computer mishaps provide Den with the opportunity to visit her desk and troubleshoot a series of fairly innocuous technical issues. Always appreciative, Nui remains reserved, since she’s secretly dating the very married company boss Top Theerapat Sajakul and doesn’t want to attract attention. The Bottom Line Better luck another day. At the company New Year’s party, Den musters the courage to speak with Nui, but his halting expressions of admiration only earn him a brusque brush-off, so he resorts to more clandestine tactics, using his technical skills to try and make her workday more enjoyable. Then on a company-wide ski trip to Sapporo, Den gets a chance to approach Nui again after she has a fight with Top when his wife and son unexpectedly show up to join the group. Nui remains behind feeling desperate and depressed once Top departs with his family and her other co-workers, except for Den, who secretly stays on as well. After a half-hearted suicide attempt that involves skiing down a steep slope in a snowstorm sends her to the hospital with a head injury, Nui regains consciousness to find Den at her bedside. She doesn’t recognize him, or remember anything from the past several years, due to a case of transient global amnesia, a temporary memory-loss condition. So when she mistakenly concludes that Den must be her boyfriend, he says nothing to dissuade her, well aware that she’s expected to regain her memory within a day and will inevitably recall that he’s her nerdy co-worker. With only 24 hours to prove his affection, Den plans a whirlwind tour of Hokkaido’s winter attractions, determined to show Nui the time of her life, since he’s convinced he’ll never get another chance to be her boyfriend. One Day bears some similarities to Hello Stranger, Pisanthanakun’s only other romantic comedy, which features another mismatched couple embarking on a whimsical overseas road trip not to mention a clear resemblance to the central conceit of 2004’s 50 First Dates. Along with co-writers Dhanasevi and Nontra Khumvong, Pisanthanakun takes such care establishing Den’s awkward outsider status that the character’s fascination with Nui eventually takes on obsessive proportions. Exhibiting the extent of Den’s creepy behavior as he follows Nui’s daily routine, intensely observes her relationship with Top and hacks into her work computer, the filmmakers hope to establish that his approach is both comedic and endearing, but he comes off as distinctly stalker-ish. Dhanasevi who also co-wrote and co-starred in Hello Stranger imbues Den with a similarly meticulous characterization, but operates in such a narrow comedic range that the performance becomes predictably repetitive. In her feature debut, popular TV actress Jirayungyurn demonstrates considerably more range conveying Nui’s confusion over her memory loss and her persistently suspicious appraisal of Den’s amorous assertions. Well out of their tropical element, Pisanthanakun and his talented crew adeptly adapt to Hokkaido’s snowy weather, confidently delivering an attractively packaged production. From the director who is famous for great horror flicks, but I liked his only romance-drama 'Hello Stranger' that starred by the same actor as in this one. This is a similar type, I mean a travel based romance-drama, but a fraction amount of fantasy and/or sci-fi influenced. Due to the way the tale was narrated, it makes no sense to label it with them. It also looks kind of the 90s style romance films from the west. So a bit old theme, however, surprisingly it worked out for concept was as same as 'A Few Portion Missing in the Centre', but it is entirely a romance-drama. When I started to watch, I thought it was going to be an average, the scenes could be predictable, but most of the film was like that, until the twist came at the midway. It was not about the twist, because that kind of twist was used in the films since the inception of the cinema. Not about what followed after that, thought those parts were decent. But the ending, that was different which saved the film I the climax was compromised, the film would have lost its charm. If I were only young like a teenager or in the early 20s, it would have been my favourite film. You know, 'been there, done that' kind mindset makes not to fall for the familiar appealness/sentiments. So I'm not the target audience, but those who are, would surely celebrate it. Particularly the girls. Yet still be a watchable film by everyone, despite how much you are going to like like we're climbing Mt. Everest story of a 30 year old geek, Denchai, who works in an IT firm as a tech supporter. He's a perfectionist, but all he wanted was people around him recognise his presence, but nobody does. He develops a crush on a new co-worker, but he keeps it himself by stalking since she's seeing somebody else in the office. Then one day when the company takes its employees to oversea tour, his wish comes true to be her boyfriend for just one day. So the entire day was narrated for us how they made it, and following day what happens, all were initiation was a bit longer than I anticipated. It was necessary to make a perfect riddle for what comes in the later. But when they go foreign trip, everything changes, a different kind of film in front of us. Like any normal romantic-drama, the best parts can be expected. Those who have watched hundreds of romantic films, would feel a bit clichÃÂĐ, but worth it. Then moving towards the final stage, you might think you know what would happen, though the film reaches its highest point with a better conclusion rather going for ideal two lead actors won the Thai Academy Awards for their performances. I think they deserved it, at least for the Thai film standards. One more awesome film by the director. I think he should do more romance films, besides his favourite, horrors. Nicely used the Japanese locations to narrate the tale. The dialogues were okay, but the emotions should have been a little more stronger. Especially for this kind of ending. But anyway, I liked it mainly because of that part. One of the best Thai romance films in the recent time. So if you are looking for a pure, touching romance film, this is the one to

Sunsetat Chaophraya adalah film dengan ending yang mengharukan. Film ini mengambil setting masa perang dunia II di mana Jepang masih menduduki Thailand. A graceful romantic drama from veteran Thai director Banjong Pisanthanakun, about snow festivals and temporary amnesiaâ€ĶFollowing the move of most A-list directors in Thailand from the GTH GMM Tai Hub production company to the new GFH 559 after GTH was dissolved in 2015, it was only obvious that the Thai film production megahouse would again crank out cookie-cutter hits after finding it’s feet on new solid ground. Banjong Pisanthankun’s new film One Day is the result of solid Thai filmmaking, having picked up a handful of best actor/actress’ awards and being nominated for more at the 26th Thailand National Film Association Day follows introverted and I suspect suffering from Aspergers or some form of learning difficulty IT office support worker Denchai Chantavit Dhanasevi suits the role too well with his curly nerdish hairâ€Ķ who has issues with his co-workers. The issue being that he’s pretty much forgetful as a person, nobody knows his name and he only gets invited to social outings through pity, but then he never makes much of an effort either and complains repeatedly through voiceover about being hard done byâ€Ķ. Denchai falls in love secretly with one of his co-workers Nui Nittha Jirayungyurn, and after spending sometime getting to know her’ I’ll be coming back to this in the office, he pretends to be her boyfriend for one day when she gets a bout of temporary amnesia whilst on a work holiday trip in JapanTrying to be the bashful loser’ story that most audience members will watch, smile at and cheekily be swayed by, I wasn’t impressed at all. From the stalker antics of Denchai towards Nui, to his continued whining of the universe being unfair to him even though he puts little effort in, to the story being a copy and paste of most GTH film formats that have come before, I found One Day to be an unimpressive and pathetically cringey film that flies far too safe for Banjong Pisanthanakun and the GFH 559 production studios’ first found lots of reviewers enamored by One Day, however that wasn’t the case for myself. All of the characters have serious failings, and the plot is repeating the format of prior flicks such as the 2010 Hello Stranger. It can pretty much be described as “Boy falls in love with Girl who finds him uncomfortable at first, they have wacky adventures in a country abroad, the ending is uncertain”. That describes most Thai romances in a nutshell, so why bother to watch One Day if it’s the same as most others? The character of Top Theerapat Sajakul, the boss of the company, is married but takes advantage of the love of Nui. Denchai repeatedly stalks Nui by breaking into her computer to leave music songs, tidying her desk after work without permission, following her around outside of work and perfectly memorizing her routine. The only person I’ve any sympathy for is Nui, having to put up with the predatory nature and the stalker antics of Denchai evidently being deemed acceptable through the film romanticizing his completely unacceptable actions, and yet Nui isn’t completely innocent, as she chases a married man with her postsArticle continues afterTo be honest, I expected more from the latest film of Banjong Pisanthanakun. One Day was the chance for production studios GFH 559 to demonstrate their uniqueness away from GTH by striking out in a new direction, and not just making the same worn shit that sells ticket sales. I know that’s exactly why One Day was great, but for once I’d love to see some variety in all these big safe’ Thai blockbusters. There are some standout moments in One Day however, as it’s beautifully shot and some scenes do induce a cringing smile, however it’s not redeeming enough for me to consider the film worthwhile watching is just another copy and paste of most popular recent Thai romantic comedy/drama formulas. If you’ve seen Hello Stranger then you’ve pretty much seen One Day, if you haven’t seen it then just save your money and go watch something equally trashy like Transformers. The stalker antics of Denchai are not acceptable in this film, and I greatly dislike One Day for romanticizing the predatory nature of Chantavit Dhanasevi’s character failings for cheap Day screened at the 12th Osaka Asian Film Festival 2017 , and plays as a part of 19th Far East Film Festival, which runs from 19-29 April 2017. An alternative ending gives the audience or reader an opportunity to experience what could have been’ if they were unsatisfied by the final product. One Day 2016 was directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and written by Chantavit Dhasevi, Nontra Kumwong and Banjog Pisanthanakun. It follows a lonely and unpopular IT Technician Denchai’s unreciprocated love for a beautiful and outgoing Marketing Assistant Nui. However, during a work trip in Hokkaido, Nui loses succumbs to amnesia for one day. Denchai uses this opportunity to act as her boyfriend’ and create good memories for her. Denchai reveals the truth to Nui and they share a few moments of happiness before Nui once again forgets Denchai. Back at work, Nui shares photos of her trip in Hokkaido with a colleague and she finds a video of herself. She does not recognise when and how she was able to attend the Snow Festival. Nui becomes confused at who could be filming and the memories overwhelm her with grief. She leaves the office; rejecting the advances of her employer. Nui and Denchai share a vague and mutual exchange. She thanks him for his kindness and his advice about her relationship as the mistress of her employer and the gossip that went along with it. Nui asks if Denchai finds a good company that he should recommend her; hinting at her resignation at the company. This alternative ending offers a new beginning to both Denchai and Nui away from their former lives. In addition, this ending opens up a possibility of a sequel for the film if Banjong Pisanthanakun wished to pursue. Bibliography Blog Surya Hardhiyana no date One Day, Thailand Movie, Sebuah Review. I can handle the truth. A man pretends to be his crush's boyfriend for a day after the former suffers a rare form of amnesia which lasts for only one I the only one who sees this plot as problematic and very creepy?! A stalker takes advantage of an amnesiac and she finds it cute?! Also, I absolutely hate movies that somehow romanticize cheating. I don't care if they tried to fix this in the end, they still cheated! Spoiler alert. Sorry. I finished this movie because of sheer determination to finish everything that I have started. I hate myself for watching movies that PISS ME OFF. And what changed us? Surroundings. Society. Only our male protagonist is the most sober, but every choice he makes when he is sober also hurts him the most. But it is enough for me to remember this day. If you figure out how to bless you, you will continue to have a destiny. What is worse, having an unfulfilled dream or no dream at all? As a dreamer, I'd rather have burning hearts than dead dreams. Maybe One Day we will find the place, where our dreams and reality collide. Although there is only One Day, you must do your best to give everything. In the end, at least you still have the happiest day in your life. And this is enough. Let me ring that bell in Hokkaido One Day. At first I was iffy about the whole concept, especially that there were, without a doubt, unethical choices made. But I think it got better because the characters acknowledged their wrong actions and actually did something about them. It also got me thinking that who we are are so much of our experiences and memories. Our values, preferences, mentality, etc. are greatly impacted by our experiences. Take away a couple of years from your past and you’re an entirely different person from who you are now with that chunk of past back. I love how imperfect the characters are and how the movie made me gain understanding of their situation, not without recognizing their faults. It’s really cute and sad. A lovely movie that completely broke my heart 💔 This is every “but I’m a nice guy”’s wet dream. Denchai is a creepy stalker and you can’t convince me otherwise. Vangsad kau Banjong... Nyesek owe Akhirnya nonton ini setelah lumayan sering aku direkomendasiin buat nonton film ini sama beberapa teman dan aku masih keukeh buat nggak nonton. Aku nggak mau liat Chantavit Dhanasevi-ku berpenampilan jelek huhuhuhu. I can handle the truth. Watched the movie and it's really heart wrenching. Still cant get over the ending. So let me just make my own ending here inspired by Susan Lee. After she walked out from the office, she wanted to know who was that guy filming her at the festival, but then she realized the voice of that guy from the video, so she called Den, but he didn't pick up, and she went back to that building where she worked, she asked the guys who knew Den, and wanted to know where he live, and she went to Den's house. In front of his house, she saw Den's watching the video that he deleted from her phone last time, which apparently heâ€Ķ not rom-comedy, but rom-creepy
untukkalian semua yang belum bisa tidur nyenyak karena ending film one day dari thailand yang ngegantung. kini kalian bisa tidur nyenyak karena studio GDH t It would be an understatement to say I was disappointed with the ending of One Day. After nearly two decades of putting up with Dexter's flip-flopping feelings all while she was stuck in a lukewarm relationship with Ian, Emma finally got him to settle down, only to find that she couldn't have a child with him mind you, he already got to experience that joy with his first wife Sylvie and thenâ€Ķ she dies?! City of Angels-style, no less Emma was hit by a vehicle while riding her bike. To me, the ending seemed grossly unfair to Emma hadn't she suffered enough? and a bit of a cop-out, really. Why couldn't this story about the complexities of friendship and love avoid becoming a weepy melodrama? Granted, life isn't always that nice and fair to us. Nicholls' book felt light, smart, and sweet throughout — but when Emma died, it suddenly felt sad and schlocky. So when I first found out One Day was being made into a movie, I began to hope the film's writers would commit the ultimate Hollywood sin and change the ending. Gasp! I know, it sounds crazy, but, loving Nicholls' characters, I found myself wishing Emma and Dexter would find their happily ever after on the big screen. Hollywood could have made it happen, right?! Of course, had the film's writers altered it, it likely would have caused as much ire as the My Sister's Keeper adaptation, which delivered a shiny, happy ending that was dramatically different than the final pages of Jodi Picoult's beloved book. In a way, adapting One Day was something of a lose-lose situation from the get-go. If writers had changed the ending, they'd delight some fans of the book myself included, but others would leave the theaters seriously miffed. Many in my screening, however, seemed upset with the original ending — when Emma was hit, gasps echoing through the theater were louder than the film itself. I'm curious to know what you thought of the ending though, PopWatchers. Had you already read the book and hoped they would change it, or were you relieved they kept it as is? If you hadn't read One Day, were you genuinely shocked by the ending? Did it bother you or do you think it will rank high among fellow doomed love story classics like Titanic and The Notebook?
